An American Family

Discovering our Origins in America

New England

The earliest of our line settled in New England about 1625. Later, many migrated south and joined other immigrant families in the Atlantic states.

Welcome!

This website traces the lineage of a family in America. The family began its immigration here during the country's formation and has served the country in all of its wars since colonial times. Their story on this site helps us to understand the lives of our predecessors, how differently they lived, and of the great challenges they surpassed to allow our own generations to exist.

The goal of this project is to build an account of every grandparent who settled in America between 1600 and today. In these years, several hundred Europeans arrived from across the Atlantic (mainly Scotts, Irish, Englanders, and Germans) to settle in New England and the mid-Atlantic states as part of the "Puritan great migration".

This website is a place for friends to collaborate with history, media, stories, and documents to build a more complete picture of each ancestor. The results appear here in charts or as narratives. Where possible, the generations are documented with primary sources to verify the information. This work is an ongoing effort with the goal of formally publishing the work once it is developed sufficiently.

New Jersey - Carolinas

In the 1700s, new families formed in western Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and the Carolinas. Today, members live throughout the country.
